Rebellious, rabble-rousing girls have always existed, but stories of how they shaped history are rarely told. Mattie Kahn wants to change that. Her book “Young and Restless: The Girls Who Sparked America’s Revolutions” chronicles the impact — and subsequent exclusion — of young women and girls in protest movements and cultural progress across two centuries of U.S. history.
