The Reuse and Repair Collective is the newest initiative of Zero Waste San Diego. It offers San Diego residents access to tools, repair knowledge and project space to learn repair skills, extend the lifespan or your belongings and connect to community.
The collective is located at 611 Beech street inside the Kipps Adelante buillding in Cortez Hill, downtown San Diego. The workshop is not open for drop ins, you must book an appointment or attend a scheduled event. Volunteers are available at every skill level and are committed to the belief that anyone can learn repair skills with proper guidance. Many types of items can be repaired at the collective, including electronics, small appliances, bikes, household items, clothing which can be mended or upcycled into something new. Items that can’t be repaired present a unique learning opportunity on what it means to consume with thoughtfulness.
The Reuse and Repair Collective has two sustainably focused permanent tenants. Positive Phee is a circular fashion community. They regularly host Sip and Style events. This is a pre-curated, sustainably focused,, and seasonally selected fashion event with re-circulated clothing, shoes and accessories. Every attendant gets a beverage and a reusable bag to fill with goodies. BeCreative.zone is an EcoArt, S.T.E.A.M. Organization. They save stuff from the landfill for art, up-cycling, and repurposing.
