Report o September Public Policy Meeting

The Sept. meeting of the Public Policy Committee featured an update on the Quality of Life Coalition by Myles Pomeroy, who represents the LWVSD on this group.  Myles and Mary Thompson also presented an update on the LWVSD’s Housing and Homeless Interest Group’s priority issues for 2025-26.  These include:

•Developing Webinar on Housing Solutions: Factory-Built / Mfg Housing
•Developing Webinar on Housing 101
•Track & promote SD City Council’s Affordable Housing Preservation Fund by the SD Housing Commission.
•Monitor changes to CA’s Housing & Community Development Department (HCD)
•Track developments of possible 2028 ballot measure:  Our Neighborhood Voices to promote local land use control.
•Continue to monitor BOS actions related to Homelessness as time progresses.
•Continue to monitor and report on the impact of Federal Fund shifts upon Homelessness and Housing  Services in San Diego County.

The next meeting on Oct. 20 will feature a speaker from the More Choice Coalition, discussing efforts to bring rank choice voting to the city of Chula Vista.
