Jason Bercovitch works closely with Congressman Scott Peters and is very knowledgeable about immigration policies. He will describe actions Scott has taken in the new Congress and the thinking of the Democratic party at the next Immigration & Deportation Committee meeting.
On Saturday, May 17, we are planning a tour to Tijuana to learn what happens to people who are deported to Mexico. The plan is to visit one or two shelters, Friendship Park and meet with Via International. You must have a current passport. Meet at the border crossing at 8AM. - open to 23 people - deadline for Leaguers to sign up is May 9th and then others can sign up - cost is $115/person to cover the tour directed by Via International using their bus - it will include stops at shelters, Friindship Park and lunch served by members of Mia Migrante (Via International's nutrition training program.) This itinerary will be developed more soon.
